At first glance, Southsea Greenhouse looks like a straightforward greengrocer, albeit in an unlikely setting – right by the sea – but it’s a little beach hut with big ideas! There’s a lot more to this enterprise, and if you like the sound of what we do, this is your chance to get involved.

Southsea Greenhouse is currently run and staffed by a team of passionate volunteers, and we are currently looking at ways to fund the employment of a full time/part time manager.

What is Southsea Greenhouse about?

Southsea Greenhouse is a Community Co-operative. This means we are member-owned and our profits are re-invested into the co-operative to help us meet our aims and objectives. We’ve created a full list of aims and objectives that describe what we want to achieve and how we plan to do it.

As well as describing our plans for Southsea Greenhouse, our aims and objectives tell people what we stand for.

What does being a member involve?

As a member you choose what level of involvement is best for you. If you have some time or talent to spare, we’d love you to take part in volunteering at the shop or at events, but there is no obligation. We need members to support in many ways; growing, crafting, selling, administering, telling other people about us, or just being regular customers.

If you have a particular skill that could be shared, or a great idea that complements our aims, we would love to talk to you, maybe about creating new workshops or including what you offer in Southsea Greenhouse activities.

Annual membership is just £5 for Ordinary Membership and £25.00 for Enhanced Membership.

We’re constantly working on increasing the benefits our members enjoy – but here’s what you get right now:

You can join by:

  • popping into the beach hut to collect a form (or fill one in there) and paying by cash or cheque: a downloadable membership form is available by clicking on the pic below.
  • posting your completed membership form, along with a cheque made out to ‘Southsea Greenhouse’ to the address on the contact page
  • surfing over to our site again soon and signing up here with your credit card via Paypal – we’re just setting that up.
